Fader

This is the old version of the fader applet. Check out the new one.

Change Parameters

Below, you can try out how the changes of parameters in the html code take effect:

speed:
slow | normal speed | quick
pause between fadings:
long | normal | short
loop:
oneway | loop oneway | bothways | loop bothways | onClick (click on the image to preceed to the next one)

The fader applet fades between two or more images as shown in the left part of this page. Its latest feature is shown on another sample page.

You can download and use it for free!!!

There are many parameters, that you can supply in the html-code, like

  • speed,
  • loop,
  • etc.

Another way (suggested by Sara Stanford - thanks!) is to control the applet from JavaScript, e.g. when the users clicks a button (cf. below and a more interesting example):

I describe how to use this feature on the Fader API page.

The fading-algorithm is based on code written by Cai Ziegler, presented in an article in no. 05/2001 of the magazine internet-world.

If you've got any suggestions, whishes etc. concerning the fader applet, feel free to send me an e-mail (oliver@oliverlabs.net).

The first version of this tool was only able to fade between two images. But as the graphics designer Stephen Gifford asked me to do so, I added the support for any number of images.

I hope this additional feature helps you, too!
